Welcome to Hong Kong Visa Services – your trusted partner for Hong Kong visa and pre-arrival registration (PAR) needs. This page provides a comprehensive guide on the Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR) for Indian nationals visiting Hong Kong. If you are an Indian passport holder planning to travel to Hong Kong, the PAR system is a vital step to complete before your journey. Read on to understand the requirements, the process, and how we can assist you.
What is the Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR)?
The Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR) is a mandatory online registration system introduced by the Hong Kong Immigration Department for Indian nationals. This system aims to streamline and facilitate entry into Hong Kong for short-term visitors, while enhancing border control. The PAR is required for Indian passport holders visiting Hong Kong for purposes such as tourism, business, or transit, for stays of up to 14 days.
The PAR simplifies the immigration process upon arrival. If you plan to stay longer or are seeking employment or study opportunities, you may need a different visa, and our team at Hong Kong Visa Services can guide you through that process.
Who Needs to Apply for PAR?
All Indian nationals holding an ordinary passport must apply for PAR before traveling to Hong Kong, except under the following conditions:
- You have a valid visa or entry permit for Hong Kong.
- You are a holder of an Indian diplomatic or official passport.
- You are a Hong Kong Identity Card (HKID) holder.
- You are a frequent visitor to Hong Kong with an “Notification Slip for Pre-arrival Registration for Indian Nationals” valid for your current trip.
For most Indian visitors, the PAR is a necessary step to avoid entry delays or denials upon arrival.
When to Apply for Pre-Arrival Registration
Indian nationals should complete the Pre-Arrival Registration at least four weeks before their intended travel date to Hong Kong. The PAR is valid for six months from the date of registration, allowing for multiple entries during this period. Each visit must not exceed 14 days, and visitors are not allowed to engage in employment, study, or establish a business during their stay without an appropriate visa.
If your PAR expires before you travel, you will need to reapply.
How to Apply for PAR
The application for Pre-Arrival Registration is entirely online. You can do that on your own or Hong Kong Visa Services can do that for you. Follow these steps:
- Access the Official Immigration Department Website: Go to the Hong Kong Immigration Department’s online PAR system for Indian nationals.
- Fill Out the Registration Form: Complete the form with your personal details, including name, passport information, and travel itinerary. Ensure that all details match your passport exactly.
- Submit the Application: Once submitted, the system will automatically process your application. The process usually takes a few minutes.
- Receive Your PAR Notification Slip: If approved, you will receive a “Notification Slip for Pre-arrival Registration for Indian Nationals.” Print and carry this slip with your passport when you travel to Hong Kong.
In case your PAR application is unsuccessful, you will need to apply for a standard visa to enter Hong Kong. Hong Kong Visa Services can assist you with this application process as well.
What to Do After Receiving Your PAR
After successful registration, print the notification slip and ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Hong Kong. Upon arrival at Hong Kong immigration, present your passport and PAR notification slip. Immigration officers may ask additional questions about your travel plans and purpose of visit.
If your passport is lost or replaced, you will need to complete a new PAR, as the previous registration is linked to your original passport.
